An Edwardian reverse painted intaglio “Essex Crystal” by the highly regarded jeweler Marcus & Co., dating to the 1910s. The painting is quite refined and in excellent, almost pristine condition. The horse is modeled beautifully, and truly feels almost alive. This piece was so hard to photograph given the reflective nature of the crystal, but I promise, it just glows in person! Given that the Marcus hallmark is on the back of the crystal and not the brooch, the new owner could very easily have this piece converted to a pendant, if they so choose.
